Viscosity Oil: October 1, 1973
Receptionist : 1973 to 1974
Inventory Control Clerk : 1974 to 1980
Customer Service: October, 1980 to present
I started Viscosity at a very young age as the
receptionist when customer contracts were typed on an electric
typewriter. It wasn’t quite as sophisticated as the
computers we use now. After a year I moved on to Inventory
Control. Viscosity was moving up in technology and the inventory
and accounting were making their niche on the computer.
In 1980 I began my career as the Viscosity Oil
“customer service rep” for International Harvester
and their ship direct program. I worked directly with the
Harvester field reps in routing orders and scheduling dealer
shipments. After Case bought IH and Ship Direct Central was
established in Kansas City, I worked directly with them and
the dealers. In 1996 I worked as the New Holland Customer
Service Rep after VOC acquired the business. I have met some
very interesting people throughout the years and have enjoyed
talking and working with all of the dealers and hope to continue
doing so for many more years.
During the years at Viscosity I went back to
school and earned an Associates in Business degree. It took
me four years, but I made it. My husband Tom and I will be
married 30 years this October, we have four children, four
grandchildren and one on the way in September (a girl). Tom
is retired from the Chicago Police Department and works as
an Investigator for the Cook County States Attorney’s
office in Gang Crimes. We also have three Cocker Spaniels,
and I’ve gone back to school, this time for, “Pet
Grooming” and will get my State of Illinois Certificate,
hopefully, in December or January.
Sometime in the future we would like to move
to Galena, IL, where we have property, and I would love to
have a dozen dogs. Right now, life is good and Viscosity always
has some kind of surprise up its sleeve to keep us guessing
about what’s next! (Right, Jeff?)
